Episode 10 of Over-Caffeinated Dads is locked, loaded, and fueled up!

To be fair, that was kind of like a very daunting, very big. That was a very big three to whatever, dude. Get double. Not the game, but like out of 32 teams, like to go and say, Oh yeah, these two teams are gonna make it, you know. Yeah. Because like I and like I think it's I think I said it in the last episode. So much can go wrong. Oh, it did. But did you you didn't I think we were talking, you didn't watch that game when you kind of gave me the recap. A little bit of it. Yeah. Well, I watched the I watched the last three and I was like, okay, yeah.

You you can't kept checking the score and I was like, oh, it looks like the it looks like Duke's gonna win this one and make it. I might still have a chance to win in the family's bracket.

And then I saw like Yukon won, and I was like, in the women's bracket? Like what are they talking about? Yeah. What do you what do you mean?

But yeah, that that last like 10 seconds of that game was was wild. It was a it was a good three. They they I'm not happy about it. Yeah, but it is what it is. March madness. That's why they call it March Madness. Yeah, because it doesn't care.

I mean, it seems like we you try to pick the Cinderella team, and people who do the the or are the most successful in these things are the ones that just pick one and two to go all the way all the way through. And usually there's one Cinderella team, you know, the New Mexico junior college that somehow makes it through the first like two rounds.

So the final four, Zane, because I don't know how much you've been following. Arizona and Michigan, I'm right about. I know. And then Illinois Yukon.

This is the gun that I wanted for a long time because I hadn't had a shotgun in a minute, and I really fell in love with this one. At Shields, and we went to Shields for Zane's bachelor party in Dallas, and it was one the first time I ever went to Shields. Which is an amazing store if you haven't been. Yeah, it's basically a store for adult men.

But then there's also toys for kids, too. And it has a Ferris wheel, but it does have a Ferris wheel.

But we go there, I fall in love with this gun, I get a case, I get magazines, I get a light, I think, and then and then they they we get all the way through point of sale, and um, they're gonna walk me out to my car, and they remembered that I live in New Mexico.

Shout out to 2A. I got it from 2A. It's it's an affordable shotgun. It feels really comfortable. It comes with pop-up sights. I know it does. I had to say, Yeah, it does come in a couple of colors. It's got a what is this called? Cheek cheek riser? Yeah. It's got a cheek riser. I mean, this is this is bone stock the way I bought it. Flat trigger. Um, the only thing that was extra was the right was the magazine and the handstop. And the handstopper. Yeah. So yeah, this is my cheek. Yes.

I've only shot it once, but yeah, AR12 is mine because it's it's something that I can I can leave out, sort of, and it's still too hard for Elliot to to charge. Yeah. But I can pull it out from behind something and blow somebody away if they're in the house unexpectedly.

So that's me. For me, just all just the training and experience I have, I I go for a handgun. One the main reason for me is manipulation. Um, it's a lot harder to take a handgun. I can pull it in tighter to me. Nothing wrong with with a shotgun. I just with it being longer, you have the potential, like you come down, it makes it a little bit more difficult to clear. If you have a tight corner, like in my house, the hallway's not super wide. Yeah. You know, and so it's just a shotgun would not be super realistic in here. Um, it can be done. You know, I I learned how to clear buildings initially back in the day with a 20-inch barrel fixed stock M16. That's what I learned how to clear buildings with. But so there are ways to do it, but you're still gonna, you know, you could potentially expose yourself and things like that, and they could grab the end of it.

The only handgun I just I totally agree with you, Zane, and I when I had more pistols, I I had them, you know, in place only yeah, that only I knew about. But the only thing I will say that's good with a shotgun is that it you don't have to be a good shot. Well, that's true. Someone's in the house and you're not and you're not really that. That can go well, that can be both.

And I'll say this you don't in it for home defense, you don't necessarily have to be a good shot with a handgun either.

Because of the distance. Because yes, if you're shooting a handgun over distance, yes, you need to be a good shot because you've got to have your fundamentals down because it's a very small barrel, so minor tweaks at long range can will really affect where you're gonna go. Yeah, in a house, you're pretty much point and shoot. Like, I'm like up, it's gonna be I'm gonna get my front sight picture only. I don't even probably won't even marry up the back sights depending on the situation, you know, if it needs to be quick.

Plot twist, practice in your house, take the magazine out, clear the firearm, then don't shoot your house in your house because you never know, and it's nice because you know the layout better than the person breaking in.

So well, they also make Blackbeard makes the the pistol like the lasers, like you can dry fire in your home. Oh, right, right, right, right, right. You know, resets the trigger and everything, which is nice. They make them for pistol and rifle. I don't know about shotguns. Mantis. There's a mantis, yeah. That's what I meant. I'd say what did I say? Blackbeard. Yeah, well, it's a mantis blackbeard. Yeah, that's for the rifle. Sorry. The Blackbeard's the model, mantis is the maker. Mantis is the maker, yeah. Yeah. Um definitely a good training tool. Yes, yeah. My buddies have them in their rifles, and we like we like to use those. And um, I've I've used it on the pistols, those are cool. Um it's it's handy. I w I was gonna ask, I'll ask both of y'all do you think do you think either one of y'all's situ uh situation y'all's uh excuse choices would change if layout of homes your home was different? 100%.

Because I agree with Zayn, like in my apartment, everything's kind of spread out. Yeah. So if I have that in the room, I'm gonna know when someone's coming through one of the doors. Right. But in Zayn's in Zane's house, that cutting that left out of here and going towards the kitchen, for example. Short angles. It's yeah, that this this shotgun's kind of long.

It would definitely, it would I I could I'm well and no, for me, for me, probably not. For me, I would probably go my hand, my go-to is gonna be a handgun anyway. Either way. Yeah, either way, right? But it might like I might like if I end up with a because my wife and I want to get a house with an open floor plan, you know. So I if I come out of my bedroom and it's boom, it's like kitchen, living room, dining room, all one big open space. I might also have a shotgun or even a rifle with some hollow point type ammo. Yeah, you know, like a 300 blackout or something. Yeah, as an option, just because you've got putting an undermounted pistol on my shotgun. That works too. So then when they take your shotgun by grabbing the end of the barrel, they've got your pistol too.

I think I would choose a rifle. Ballistic knife. Um just because I'm not and like you said, you don't really have to be very too good of a shot with a pistol. I just feel more comfortable with a rifle. Um and um and there are that's that's one way to look at it. Like guys like it where, you know, they have two hands on their weapon system, and so you feel a little bit more in control.

And then you see the head of a bear come out of one of the hallways and kills it right there. I mean, like every shot landed, but Okay, and it's called what now? Um Dude Kills Bear. I with rightfully named.
